Sažetak
In this work polyethylene (PE-LD) films containing various natural preservatives (cinnamon, green tea, rosemary and ginger) were studied. Polyethylene films, which is used as packaging material, were prepared by hydraulic Dake press at 120 °C. Thermal stability of the samples was monitored by thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) in nitrogen flow rate of 100 ml/min at heating rate of 10 °C/min in temperature range from 25 to 600 °C. Mechanical properties of samples were also determined (tensile strength and elongation at break) and their resistance to the action of microorganisms was tested. Results of mechanical properties show the decrease of the values of elongation at break and slight increase of tensile strength in comparison to pure polyethylene. The results show that the addition of bioadditives in polyethylene films increases their thermal stability and the highest antimicrobial activity shows sample prepared with cinnamon.
