Sažetak
Disorders of magnesium balance in patients are not a rarity, and can be manifested as magnesium deficiency, or its surplus. There are many possible causes of serum magnesium imbalance. Magnesium
deficiency can occur as hypomagnesemia, or intracellular magnesium deprivation. Hypomagnesemia is more frequent in patients who have, or had malignant tumour, than in other patients. Hypermagnesemia
usually has iatrogenic causes. The degree of magnesium imbalance is most often graded according to “Common Terminology Criteria for Adverse Events v.4” published by NCI.
