Sažetak

Stable coronary artery disease is characterized by transient angina symptoms as a result of reversible and relative inequality of myocardial oxygenated blood supply as per needs at the moments of physical exertion, emotional or other stress, but it can also occur at rest. Chronic ischemic heart disease represents a significant challenge in the global management of cardiovascular diseases. In the general population, it shows expected prevalence of 1-4%, that is several times more common than acute coronary syndromes. The review article shows the basics of clinical diagnosis and treatment of stable coronary artery disease in the Republic of Croatia and within the scope of the recent guidelines of the European Society of Cardiology.
