THE HIGH VOLTAGE THERAPY IN RHEUMATOLOGY

Sažetak

The effect of the high voltage current (HVC) has been examined in 50 pabJents
(ll male and 39 female) of various life age, on an average of 52 years.
Among them most of the paticnts ha\·e suffered from rheumatoid al'thritis (27)
or from the painful spine syndromes.
The act·ive e!ectrode has been placed at the spot of the most intensive pain
in duration of 10 to 20 minutes varying on indication. HVC has been used in
diagonal tech nique during 14 days.
The avcrag~ pa:in intensitty in movement or in being still has been importantly
reduced in both sexes a t the end of the therapy. The patients on therapy
wHh non-storoid anniinflammatory d1·ugs have reduced the dosage to the procentage
of 25 to SOOfo out of the daily dosage, due •to t he secondary analgetic effect.
The side-effects have been regis tered in 6 pts. (13,30fo). The strong analgetic
effect has also been ev-idented by HVC in pa~ients with inflammatory rheumatic
diseases, "in pts. with the painful spine syndromes and in patients with degenerative
diseases of joints.
