Sažetak

With a view to proving the viability of financial investments in medically-programmed
active rest for workers (MPAR) by work organizations, we undertook the following research
work. The sample we chose included 54 women employed int the INA enterprise, the oil
rafinery in Rijeka, who spent ten days in our institution following the MP AR Program me
(Daruvarske Toplice).
The following five variables were observed during the ten day kinesiological treatment:
body weight in kg, vital capacity (VITCAP) in ml, forced expiratory volume (FEXPVO) in ml.
maximum oxygen intake (MAIN02) ml/min/kg and relative maximum intake of oxygen
(REIN02) in ml/mion/kg, The difference between the initial and final state was established by the method of quantitivc change analysis. The SS-DIF (Momirović, 1981) programme was
applied by which an analysis is made of the quantitative changes caused by a given treatment to
which a sample from a group of not essentially bomogenous rcspondents is subject.
In the case of two ot the variables statistically significant differences were obtained, to a
significance level of 99 per cent, in the variables MAJN02 and REIN02. Positive results in
these two variables, considered to be crucial for raising the tevet of and maintaining work
capabilities and prolonging years of service clearly point to tbc need and viability of financial
investments in such treatments.
