Sažetak
On the occasion of the 150th anniversary of HAZU (1861 – 2011), the Institute for Scientific and Artistic Work of the Croatian Academy of Sciences and Arts in Osijek held on 21 October 2011 a solemn observance dedicated to the work of the academician Božo Udovičić; the Faculty of Electrical Engineering organized a scientific conference on the Development of electric power supply in Croatia. The observance was attended by numerous guests among others the academicians Božo Udovičić himself and Hrvoje Babić; Gordana Kralik Dr.h.c. Gordana Kralik, Full Professor, Ph.D., head of the Josip Juraj Strossmayer University in Osijek; Goran Granić Ph.D., head of the Institute ‘’Hrvoje Požar’’; the representatives of the local government, deans of Croatian Faculties of Engineering, deans of the Osijek University faculties as well as numerous students and businessmen from Slavonia. The observance was presided by the academician Vlasta Piližota, Antun Tucak Ph.D. prof. emeritus, Radoslav Galić Ph.D., Davor Pavuna Ph.D. and Marijan Kalea, eng. The paper deals with achievement of the academician Božo Udovičić in course of his 50-year work and activity. It gives a detailed analysis of both his rich life and scientific and professional work by elaborating on the field of electric power supply and a wider social involvement. The basic areas of interest i.e. electric power supply and power supply focus on social development activities through human concern. The academician Udovičić speaks of himself profoundly in his book ‘’I tried to be…’’ leaving the evaluation of his life to expert public.
