Sažetak

This article presents a critical analysis of the philosophies underlying twentieth century totalitarian ideologies as understood by Hijacint Bošković, and as viewed by the author himself. The author, in order to achieve his objective, first puts forward some basic insights into the notion to which we apply the term "ideology". Secondly, he introduces the reader to the course of development taken by modern philosophy and the social order, which were founded upon subjectivism and individualism, the premises for the development of the said ideologies. Finally, he analyses the philosophical tenets of Nationalsocialism, which are antiintellectualism, dynamism, and the race mystique; of Italian Fascism, which is the absolute primacy of the state over the individual and also the philosophical tenets of Communism, which are anti-Christianity, a crude materialism and a new paganism.
