Abstract

Leakage modelling in water supply systems is a process, which, due to its complex nature, holds more components in itself. For the purpose of understanding the problem, the models for losses are presented, in the way they have been treated so far. Former practice has shown that it is justified to include the impact of the soil, in which the water pipes are laid, in the leakage modelling,. The reason for this is the energy loss of the water flow, which occurs between the orifice and the soil surface during the process of the water movement through the soil. This paper proposes a method for the evaluation of the soil influence, which can be implemented in existing models.
