Sažetak

In July 2014, the Institute of Archaeology in Zagreb continued with systematic archaeological research that has been carried out at Galovo in the north east of Slavonski Brod since 1997. This year, research continued on the ritual-burial area of early Neolitihic settlement from Starčevo culture from the early stages of its development – Linear A phase.
So far, five grave pits have been discovered: a large grave pit (16 x 7 m) with three burials, a small burial pit (1.5 x 1 m) with a child grave and three grave pits (5 x 5 m) with one burial each. A series of postholes were detected this year, two fences and a partition west of the large pit (probably burial) which goes on for 15 m in the NW – SE direction along the eastern profile of the quadrants, and stretches further east into the unexcavated area. At the edges of the quadrants, smaller pits have been discovered that continue into the unexcavated part of the field. According to pottery features, Galovo site in Slavonski Brod has, once again, confirmed that the structures belong to the Linear A phase of the Starčevo culture. Therefore, research is scheduled to continue in this area to gain a more complete insight into the organization and position of this burial ground divided by fences within a settlement, unique within the entire area of Starčevo culture in south east Europe.
