Sažetak

A case of young patient with serious motor, speech and visual disorders caused by cerebral ischemia, most probably due to epileptic seizure when he was home alone. Additionally he suffered another cerebral
ischemia as a result of a five minute heart failure after rupture of intercostal artery while having pleural puncture. After 3 and a half months hospitalization the patient was dismissed with atactic and difficult walk with occasional unwilling movements, GMS of left extremities was lower, dysarthtic speech, blurred and reduced vision, and his psychomtor skills were slowed down. His successful recovery was the result of all available possibilities of rehabilitation (hospital, home and ambulatory physical therapy) together with speech and vision exercises. In spite of the efficacy of the mentioned treatments it seems
that the crucial role in the patient’s recovery was his personality (optimism and belief in his recovery) and that of his family. His environment, parents and girlfriend had the same characteristics as he did. With their dedication and psychological support they contributed to the recovery. He is the example of the patient where family doctor should apply biopsycho- social approach (holistic) and use, together
with medical, the patient’s possibilities and those of his family in order to achieve therapeutic goals, applying patient-oriented care.
