Sažetak
Ausgehend von dem Verständnis von Torquato Tasso als Künstlerdrama und der italienischen Pastorale-Tradition wird Goethes Drama in diesem Beitrag als ein ›Vita-Nova-Drama‹ gedeutet. Der Kernpunkt einer solchen Deutung liegt in Goethes Versuch, im Tasso auf der Folie des geistigen Erben der italienischen Pastorale lebenspropädeutische Hilfe an seine Zeitgenossen zu leisten. Diese erfolgt dadurch, dass er im Drama, durch den Rückgriff auf die historische Tasso-Gestalt bzw. den Renaissance-Stoff, die Möglichkeit der humanen Identitätsbildung innerhalb des eigenen zeitgenössischen historischen Horizonts thematisiert.
In this paper, Goethe's drama "Torquato Tasso" is classified as an artist's drama in the Italian pastoral tradition and interpreted as a 'Vita-Nova-drama. The key argument for this interpretation is Goethe's attempt to use Tasso, i.e. the spiritual legacy of the Italian pastoral, as a backdrop for instructing his contemporaries. These instructions are enabled by recourse to the historical figure of Tasso, i.e. to Renaissance themes of one's identity formation within one's own historic horizon.
