Sažetak

Stroke leads to speech and communication disorders, with aphasia being the most complex and common, which may have further complications. Patients that are transferred from neurological wards of university or general hospitals to rehabilitation programme in our Hospital, are included in speech assessment and therapy. Optimal modality of the treatment is based on the type of aphasia. Speech therapy and recovery in the first weeks of rehabilitation procedures lead to partial recovery of speech in most cases, with the need for continuation of the therapy. For limitation of resources of therapists and patients, the emphasis is given to advisory and educational work with patients and relatives.
