Sažetak

The Trauma Symptom Inventory [TSI] has been translated and adapted for use in the Republic of Croatia. The TSI consists of 100 items and serves for the evaluation of acute and chronic trauma symptomswhich include, but are not limited to, the consequences of rape, spousal abuse, physical assaults, serious accidents and natural disasters, permanent consequences of abuse in childhood as well as other early traumatic experiences. This paper deals with the existence of differences in TSI scales between the normative sample of males (N = 235) and war veterans (N = 51) who suffered from Posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD). The normative sample consisted of non-traumatized males aged between 18 and 54. The patient sample consisted of males aged between 38 and 61. The statistical significance of the differences was determined using a simple analysis of variance for independent samples. Statistical significance was determined in all cases, namely the values of all scales of the Posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) sample were higher in comparison to the control sample. The results show that the Croatian version of the TSI has good diagnostic validity in the assessment of persons with PTSD.
