Sažetak

This paper deals with problems which arose in the introduction of independent groups in the production process.
Research was carried out during restructuring of the production system in which machine work was prevalent, while the system itself as classically structured into strict groups according to the type of treatment process.
The possibility of a working group structure was pointed out. It was also pointed out that a possibility of a working group structure existed for the production system in which two production structures occur simultaneously — groups according to the type of work and groups according to the aim.
This could contribute considerably to the wider application of relatively autonomous groups in realistic production systems.
Organisational improvements were suggested which would widen the participation of workers in dispositionary activities, such as planning and quality, as well as motivation of workers in a group by developing a specific system of operational planning.
Effects achieved in group production are: shorter production cycle by 65% and reduction of the average of rejects from 11.3% to 2.73%>.
Further research was suggested into the effect of the size of a group, its inner structure, etc. on the work efficiency and interhuman relations, as well as on the broadening of self-governing relations in a firm.
