Sažetak
The challenge of the inculturation of liturgy is present in the Church from its very beginning, and throughout the history has seen different answers. The Second Vatican Council reopened the possibility of liturgical adjustment to different cultures, concerned by the needs of missionary countries (SC 37-40). In the period following the Council the activities and direction of the inculturation processes were promoted by documents and editions of new liturgical books, both typical and national. In the first part of the article the opinion of the Church is presented, for it is from these documents and editions that we can grasp what does Church understand by inculturation, the demands and conditions for the liturgical inculturation, the principles and rules of the application of inculturation in the Roman missal, and the boundaries of the adjustment of the Roman missal.
In the second part, the article attempts to define the extent of the inculturation in Croatia, both at the national level and at the level of the Metropolis of Rijeka. The liturgical inculturation at the national level is mostly achieved by the translation of the liturgical books and an own liturgical calendar, as well as in the field of the sacramentals. In the field of the sacramenta there are still wide possibilities of adjustment. The Dioceses in our Metropolis have limited their peculiarities to Diocesan calendars, but liturgical texts for the particular liturgical celebrations are very scarce.
