Sažetak
Mother’s milk is a live biological substance, its composition is unique and it is the best food for nurselings. Breast feeding has a positive impact on the psycho-physical stability of mother and child. Beside a number of positive effects on child, for mother the breast-feeding reduces the risk of breast and ovary cancer. If mother’s milk is considered as the best food for a healty, fullterm baby, then it is even more important for sick and risk new-born baby. In this work special attention is paid to mother’s milk feeding of premature infant, newborn of diabetic mother and twins. Most mothers if properly informed and well supported is able to make breast feeding of his premature child. Besides many quality-ingre-dients contained in the mother’s milk, that is most essential for a premature infant, there are the elements in traces which mother’s milk contain. Mother with diabetes if giving brest-feeding to her child, reduces the diabetes development risk for her child. If there exists a good metabolic control of diabetes, the milk contains a composition of micro and macro nutrients and fatty acids. If there is question of twins, specially the premature infants, all already mentioned mother’s milk feeding benefits are still more important. For risk and sick new borns mother’s milk is at the same time food and medicine. Mother’s milk feeding of such children should be a component part of intensive care and therapy protocol.
