Sažetak

Working capacity was examined in twenty-eight persons with ventricular preexcitation (WPW or LGL syndrome) and in twenty-three control subjects by means of a bicycle ergometer. In twelve patients ventricular preexcitation was type LGL, in one woman type A and in fifteen persons type B. In twenty-five out of twenty-eight persons with ventricular preexcitation diagnosis was WPW or LGL syndrome, followed by paroxysmal tachycardia. In patients with ventricular preexcitation submaximal frequency of the heart rate during exercise was reached in a significantly shorter time (13.6 min.) than in controls (18.3 min.). During the rest period after exercise in these patients heart frequency returned to the values before exercise (9.2 min.) more slowly than in controls (6.1 min.). The difference was statistically significant (p < 0.05). During exercise there was no difference in working capacity between groups with type B or LGL of ventricular preexcitation. In two female patients with LGL syndrome the exercise test resulted in paroxysmal tachycardia in the first minute of exercise.
