Sažetak
In recent years the demand for medicinal plants, especially chamomile, has been steadily increasing. Taking advantage of modern technology in planting, harvesting and processing of chamomile during the production process is perfected to be well-timed and highly efficient. Mechanical harvesting of chamomile flowers must be carried out when the plant reaches its peak quality and yield. Industrial drying of harvested chamomile represents a bottleneck during the harvesting and processing of chamomile flowers. It is therefore necessary to use highly efficient state of the art dryers to maintain the maximum quality of dried flowers in the drying process. Today biomass is ever more used as a fuel for drying chamomile (namely wood pellets, chips, briquettes and firewood). Biomass is not only significantly cheaper than heating oil and gas but fully complies with the strict European standards on the emission of pollutants during the combustion of biomass.
