Sažetak
The solution of the three-dimensional seakeeping problem with forward speed in the frequency domain still has some well-known problems. In this paper, a Rankine-Kelvin hybrid method benefiting the merits of both the Rankine source and Kelvin source is presented and demonstrated by studying the wave diffraction/radiation problem with zero forward speed as an example. A meshless cylindrical surface is selected to be the control surface dividing the fluid domain into two regions, and the velocity potential and its normal derivative on the control surface are represented by series expansions. The present Rankine-Kelvin hybrid method is validated by the added mass and damping associated with the linear radiation force, and comparison is made with the documented analytical solution. All the work in the paper sheds light on solving the forward speed hydrodynamic problems.
