STIMULATION OF OVULATION WITH LUTAL IN DOE RABBITS BEFORE ARTIFICIAL INSEMINATION WITH LIQUID SEMEN OF DIFFERENT LIFE SPAN

Sažetak
The problem of ovulation provocation occurred with the application of artificial insemination in rabbits. In this work the ovulation was stimulated directly before the insemination by the i.m. application of Lutal (synthetic releasing hormone for LH and FSH, product of the "Hoechst'firm). The ejaculates of three buck rabbits were diluted using "Gottinger" diluter and divided into 1 ml doses. Each dose contained 60 milion sperm cells with progressive motility of at least 70%. Insemination was performed with the samples of different life span: O hour ie. immediately after dilution and after storage ay +4°C during 24 and 48 hours. A total of 37 inseminations were performed. The ovulation was successfully provoked in 91.89% of females that became pregnant and had litters of 2 to 11 (7.67 in average) puppies.
