Sažetak

Stroke is a clinical syndrome characterized by sudden development of focal
neurological deficit of vascular origin (ischemia or hemorrhage), and symptoms
correlate the size of the site(s) of brain damage and the time elapsed from stroke
onset to the moment of assessment. Spasm as a positive symptom of upper motor
neuron damage due to stroke if untreated treated early after stroke may be the cause
of various problems for which patients need nursing care in carrying out activities
of daily living and quality of life is impaired. Focal application of botulinum toxin A –
Botox is good for the treatment of focal spasm and allows better passive and active
mobility of the arms and legs. The application of botulinum toxin A – Botox and
physiotherapy therapeutic interventions can significantly reduce spastic myogenic
contractures, and so avoid surgical treatment and improve the independence of
patients from other persons in carrying out activities of daily living, as well as the
reintegration of patients in the family, work and social community in which the
patient lives.
