Winter colours of gardens

Sažetak
Flower lovers who are lucky to have their own garden can make it interesting even in winter time by planting carefully chosen species of plants. Taking into consideration that garden centres are well supplied with new cultivars of old, well known species, there are no reasons why gardens wouldn’t look interesting even in winter time. Choose appropriate species of wooden quality, perennials or geophytes.
Just as the flowers of hellebore or marvelous nutmeg look wonderful when half covered by snow, the same effect can be achieved with the red or yellow cornelian cherry bark and curled branches of hazel or willow tree. There are also brightly coloured berries of different wooden-quality species that resist frost and birds for a long time.
Dwelling places can be decorated, particularly at Christmas time, with flowers and berries of pot-plants. To keep them in shape longer they should be held on a fresher place, and when they lose their appeal, instead of throwing them away, we should try to preserve and multiply them.
