Sažetak

The experimental bronchospasm in guinea-pigs produced by inhalation of the venom of spider Latrodectus tredecimguttatus is described. Bronchospastic attacks appeared 15 minutes after the beginning of inhalation and lasted for five to seven hours. They were observed in all experimental animals on trial. They seem to be due to an increase in acetylcholine secretion at the bronchial cholinergic nerve endings and to the effect of acetylcholine on bronchomotor tonus and glandular secretion. Considering a high sensitivity of guinea pigs to this venom, and the intensity, duration and reversibility of the induced attacks, we can conclude that a favourable model of experimental asthma and bronchospasm has been obtained.
