Sažetak

The paper, through a critical review of the basic methodological and didactic principles of functional music pedagogy of Elly Bašić (1908-1998), compared those principles with the then fashionable, both general and music-educational concepts. It was concluded that there are many common features between music-educational concept of Elly Bašić and music-educational concepts of authors such as: J.E.Dalcroze, Z. Kodaly, S. Suzuki, C.Orff, E. Willems. Elly Bašić has, along with her own ideas which she has integrated into her music–educational concept - Functional Music Pedagogy, integrated the guiding ideas from not only the mentioned contemporary music-educational concepts from the early 20th century, but she rather included the guiding principles of the general pedagogical concepts of authors like M. Montesori and R.Steiner. The above mentioned music-educational concepts are entirely current and common nowadays. For that reason, we can justifiably view them as contemporary and aim towards their better understanding in order to apply them in our pedagogical practice.
