Sažetak

This article describes basic theoretic concepts and therapeutic principles of psychoanalytic psychotherapy
and group analysis (group analytic psychotherapy) derived from psychoanalysis. Our goal was to
emphasize the very good applicability of these psychotherapeutic techniques in clinical practice. A necessary
prerequisite is the psychodynamic education of psychotherapists. The willingness and motivation of the
patients to open painful and intimate contents of their minds as well as to explore unconscious conflicts, and
the concurrent ability of the therapist to use that material in the therapeutic process may lead not only to
the symptoms reduction, but also to lasting personality changes and improvement of the overall quality of
life. The review is supported by a number of vignettes created during everyday psychotherapeutic practice
in a clinical setting.
