Abstract

In conditions of political integration of Europe as well as integration of liberalised European rail system, a requirement arose in terms of computerisation of the process of drawing up train schedule. The result of this integration is the Path Coordination System (PCS), a uniform program solution coordinating all Railways Undertakings (RUs) and Infrastructure Managers (IMs) of the European railways. A common goal is quick and easy access to the European rail infrastructure as well as increased efficiency of international rail traffic. In homogenous Europe with a uniform rail system, PCS contributes to stronger integration and better coordination in terms of planning of railway operators´ train lines.
