Abstract
Measurements conducted on the Geodynamic Network on the City of Zagreb in the period of 18 years confirm the ever-present tectonic activity in the covered wider area around the Medvednica mountain. All GPS measurements are processed in the same way: using the latest version of the scientific GPS software GAMIT/GLOBK 10.6, which uses Kalman filter to determine the velocities from time separated GPS campaigns. All parameters of GAMIT are configured for regional or local campaign. As the reference points of the Geodynamic network, two of the most stabile points in the research area were chosen. Movements of all other points in the network refer to the vector between the two points mentioned. In this way, the possibility of overestimating the movement of all points in the network for possible displacement of one single origin is avoided. In the paper an interdisciplinary geodetic and geological analysis and comparison of results obtained from periods 2008–2009 and 2009–2015 was conducted. The reason for comparing these periods is their different time period, which is one year (2008–2009) and six years (2009–2015). The results of the analysis described in this paper, clearly demonstrate the necessity of conducting this type of measurements in intervals of up to one year. Specifically, in the case of perennial time intervals between GPS campaigns comes to averaging of the movements, and actually the loss of movements on an annual basis which are extremely valuable and essential for quality analysis and understanding of the mechanism of the structural assembly of the wider Zagreb area.
