Sažetak

Pulitzer and Hearst, the fathers of the yellow press, had a decisive effect to the future development of new trends in journalism. Furthermore, many modern companies were guided by the business model of the mentioned American magnates. In the 19th century, the newspapers of Pulitzer and Hearst had an important role in informing citizens about events in the country, but at the same time they influenced the foreign policy of the USA. Most historians agree that,
through their papers, Hearst and Pulitzer had a major role in forming public opinion and manipulating the public during the Spanish-American War. Their unscrupulous manner of reporting on the rebellion in Cuba forced American President William McKinley to declare war on Spain. In view of historical facts, this paper will be dedicated to the assessment of the role of Hearst and Pulitzer in the Spanish-American War.
