Sažetak
The present-day epidemiological problems of poisonings with corrosive substances in the territory of Novi Sad are presented and new preventive measures proposed. A considerable decrease in the rate of poisoning which followed the prohibition of the sale of corrosives by retail is pointed out. The measure has proved entirely successful. In the past accidental poisonings with corrosives were most frequent in small children. In young people corrosives were used for suicidal purposes. Lately, these poisonings have been observed most frequently as accidents in industry and agriculture and far less frequently as attempts of suicide. Among preventive measures the authors recommend the spreading of the knowledge about dangerous properties of corrosive substances and special labeling of corrosives for safer handling.
