Digital reporoduction of serial publication: identification and cataloguing

Sažetak

The publication of the digital reproductions of serials on the web has created the need to re-evaluate the existing models and cataloguing rules. The paper presents and compares identification and cataloguing of the online digital reproductions of the serials which had ceased publication using the ISSN standard, the ISBD and RDA standards. Furthermore, it compares the terminology related to digital reproductions in all three standards. As an example for the analysis the online digital reproductions of the serials which had ceased publication long ago are used. The different publishing forms of the publications are analyzed: when they are published on one or more web pages or platforms, when they are published by the same or different institutions, and in one or more formats. The paper presents the advantages and disadvantages of various models of bibliographic description and discusses the appropriate levels of cataloguing.
