The approach of industrial officers to the problem of accident prevention in Yugoslavia has been mostly uncertain and doubtful. The problem has therefore often been neglected. As industrial accidents occur as a mass phenomenon in Yugoslav industry; in the study of prevention of accidents epidemiological methods can be applied. This will enable to analyze the important factors such as the host; the agent and the environment; to understand the endemic and epidemic of accidents and in planning actions to apply the principles of primary; secondary· or tertiary prevention as it is done with other mass diseases
