The conservation history of mosaic pavements at the cathedral site in Poreč: 1862-1990

Sažetak
The Eufrasian cathedral site in Poreč is rich in mosaic pavements from several successive phases of early Christian building. This article relays the history of their conservation. They were restored three times since the 19th century, under the Austrian (1862-1918), the Italian (1918-45) and the Yugoslav governments (1945-1991). The article details the nature of these restorations, the final two of which were particulary invasive, limiting the value of the pavements as archeological data.
