Sažetak
By usage of radioactive chromium, the labelling of erythrocytes for the study of cell survival has been simplified and it is possible to study the behaviour of a patient's own cells after auto transfusion as well as the behaviour of donor cells in the patient. The methods for these investigations are described and the interpretation of different types of curves are discussed. Examples are given of the survival pattern in various forms of haemolytic anaemia. Chromium labelled-erythrocytes can also be used for the estimation of the assessment of sites of destruction of erythrocytes in vivo, This latter test is of especial use in determining the value of splenectomy in controlling haemolysis.
