Sažetak
The text analyses some components of the quality of living, namely nutrition and health. In sociology, the quality of living is defined by the level of satisfaction people experience regarding their basic and other needs, living conditions and their standard of living. Numerous elements in the quality of living comprise different areas of human life, such as accommodation, working conditions, education, free time, health, diet etc. The last two life segments can be examined as separate branches of sociology, which in turbulent modern times become more and more interesting and known as sociology of nutrition and sociology of health (medical sociology). This paper presents the results of research carried out at the Institute for Social Research in Zagreb in 2004. Its representative sample were 2.220 respondents all over settlements network in Croatia and it was called Sociological aspects of the settlements network in the context of transition. Nutrition and health data obtained in the research were satisfactory, although there is always room for change and improvement for the majority of people. The expected results place the areas of research in the context of transition and transformation. They also confirm the inseparable connection between health and diet, reflected in permanent concern for healthy life in modern day conditions.
