Sažetak
During 2015 and 2016 in three apple plantations (in Croatian north‐west Medjimurje region) we checking the effectiveness of various insecticide (mineral oil, di‐1‐p‐menthene, chlorpyrifos‐ethyl, phosmet, pyriproxyfen, thiacloprid, alpha‐cypermethrin, lambda‐cyhalothrin, esfenvalerate, imidacloprid, spirotetramat) applied to overwintering and first generation of San José scale. The effectiveness is checked by counting living and dead females under shields collected from the attacked bark, and viewed through a stereo‐binocular magnifier “Zeiss Stemi 2000‐C” (20‐25x). Regardless of the choice of insecticides, research in the first season shown that effective chemical control of San José scale can be increased expenditure volume of liquid per hectare (750‐900 lit./3000 seedlings/ha). Depending on the development stage of apple and monitoring pests we recommended different insecticide for treating overwintering population (mineral oil with chlorpyrifosethyl), and the suppression of male (pyriproxyfen) and females moving larvae of the first generation (spirotetramat).
