Sažetak
The author underlines the growing importance of tile study of occupational canoer. The discovery of cancerogenic substances in tar bas shown that an extraordinary great number of cancer cases may be classified as an occupational disease, The author has for some time studied the precancerous and cancerous ailments among workers employed in our industry. Incidence of cancer in both soot and metal industry has been examined. Observations are confirmed showing that workers employed in lead industry seldom suffer from cancer. In our industry cases or occupational cancer were reported, where the causative cancerogenic substance could not be determined. The author also sets forth his observations about the cancer oi the nether lip among women. This cancer occurs in connection with spinning, where the thread is passed through the mouth to be moistened by saliva. It seems that the mechanical irritation is not the only cause which leads to cancer, but that the material used for spinning contains cancerogenic substances, although no mineral oil was employed. It is very important that these problems in our country shall be studied with special care, because the number of cases of occupational cancer may be expected to increase with the development or industry, and we must do all we can to prevent its spreading.
