Sažetak

The author points out that work must be considered as a conscious activity and that by work one creates a unity with one's environment, but for purposes of scientific analysis we must distinguish between two factors: man and environment. After having given the definition of those two factors the author proceeds to the examination of the: two main fields of research relating to occupational psychophysiology both while the worker adapts himself to his work and while he accommodates planfully his work to his requirements. Proceedings belonging to the first group are the following: detection of interest, advice on choice of profession, occupational education, courses for technical, cultural and political improvement. The second group covers a rational organization of the process of work, adaptation of tools and machines to the worker, accommodation of the microclimate, light, colour, incentives, labour ralations &c. The author explains these proceedings in a series of examples and he dwells particularly on the problem of fatigue and relaxation. He touches also the problem of competition. Finally he mentions the .relation between the effect of work and both the hour o£ the day and the day of the week. The solution of these problems should be·attempted jointly by the psychophysiologist, the engineer and the physician. Occupational psychophysiology tends to contribute to the understanding, to the raising and the improvement of the work itself and in this respect every success in this field represents one step towards a greater property at the individual and of the community.
