Sažetak

In this paper the authors are concerned with a brief review of a
series of health-educative publications published in the Croatian
language. Quantitative and qualitative analyses of free text
publication SPAD-T were completed by using 12 different
samples from health education articles published from 1872 to
1938. This analysis is used to confirm suitable historical material
for utilization of contemporary calculated programs and to verify
what wording or word clusters are used to convey information in
the majority of published health educational presentations or
articles. In addition, the analysis explores the thematic orientation of health education publications together with relations between
different health education areas. The completed analysis
discovered that straightforward words and simplified text were
used to send information to readers at the beginning of modern
health education publications. Also, the information is often
presented in imperative order. In many cases these publications
are grouped into different sections such as nutrition and healthy
eating habits, hygiene, physical fitness, microorganisms,
preventable diseases, mother and child health prevention,
negative effects of alcohol and tobacco consumption and
tuberculosis prevention. This analysis confirmed and concluded
that the analyzed historical health education materials are
suitable data material to utilize for written text calculated analysis.
