Sažetak

Crystallisation represents the first phase of urinary stone formation depending on urine supersaturation and various inhibiting or promoting agents. Morning urine samples were collected from 62 patients and 35 control subjects. Light microscopy was used for detection of crystalluria. Crystalluria was observed in both groups, stone forming patients had more crystals in their urine than normal subjects. In both groups CaOx crystals prevailed, 13% in formers and 9% in control subjects. CaP crystals were detected in 8% of patients and in 6% of control subjects, while H2U was detected in 2% of patients and 3% of control subjects. The examples of common urinary crystals as well as observations relating to the crystals morphology, stone composition and composition of urinary parameters are shown in this paper.
