Sažetak

The work contains a report on research conducted
in the area east of the old city gate in the eastern wall
of Salona (Porta Caesarea), which was conducted as a
collaboration between the Archaeological Museum in
Split and the History Department of the Faculty of Social
Science and Humanities in Split. The description of the research is preceded by a history of archaeological
work conducted in this area. The remains of
mostly Late Antique architecture were discovered in
the trench: two stacked stone walls, one mason-work
wall and a channel in the southern section which had
an opening covered by a column base in secondary
use. Among the oldest finds are coins and pottery from
the 2nd century BC, discovered in layer SJ 012, which
was formed by filling a sharp drop in the limestone
bedrock that caused delevelling.
