The age of the firefighting fleet in the Republic of Croatia

Sažetak
This paper deals with the theme of the firefighting fleet age in the Republic of Croatia. The presentation is written from the aspect of a firefighting historian, does not go deeper into the operational and technical issues and does not give a rating on the quality of the firefighting fleet. In the introductory section, a brief overview of the development of the Croatian firefighting fleet through history is provided. Tehre is alsoan answer to the question why and how historians should deal with a firefighting fleet, and brief instructions on collecting and storing vehicle data that can serve a for a further analysis. Data on the present state of the fleet were taken from the VATROnet information system. The aim was to establish the age of fire-fighting vehicles, with an emphasis on the number of vehicles used by Croatian firefighters over the age of 30. In this way it is also shown how to use modern technology for fire research purposes. The collected data can be used by historians and firefighting experts to track the state of firefighting fleet in Croatia.
