Sažetak

Allergy is a disease of modern time. With modern lifestyle, allergens are becoming ever more aggressive and more easily penetrate into the body. Allergies signifi cantly affect the quality of life and reduce working ability of patients, thus posing great socio-economic burden upon the individuals and the society. The aim of this study was to analyze data recorded in 2013 at the Allergy Outpatient Clinic, Bjelovar General Hospital on allergy testing (skin prick test); number of persons tested according to age and gender; reactions to allergens recorded; sensitization to standard inhalant and food allergens according to gender; and allergy symptoms and medical diagnoses in individuals referred by general practitioners to skin prick test according to gender. The results showed that more women than men were tested for allergens (307 vs. 147).
