Sažetak

The secretion dynamics of insulin, C-peptide and glucose were examined by the oral glucose tolerance test (OGTT). The parametres were measured immediately before the intake of glucose and 30, 60 and 120 minutes afterwards. The same sample of 30 individuals with proximal type obesity underwent an examination of lipoprotein fractions and subfractions, as well. A complex analysis was conducted, attempting to find the correlation between regional distribution of adipose tissue and the concentrations of insulin, C-peptide and lipoprotein subfractions. The interaction of insulin, C-peptide and lipoproteins was also investigated on the same sample. The values of basal insulin, trigliceride, basal and OGTT-stimulated C-peptide were significantly higher in obese probands, whereas the values of total HDL-cholesterol and HDL3 subfractions were significantly lower. HDL2 was also lowered, but without statistical significance. A positive correlation was established between proximal obesity and insulin and tirgficeride concentrations. We also found a negative correlation of proximal obesity, total HDL cholesterol and subfractions with insulin and C-peptide. Regional distribution of adipose tissue is related to a number of metabolic disturbances and further investigations should explain this correlation.
