New Moral Theory and Politics: Human as Homo-Duplex

Sažetak
In this paper we wanted to contribute to Taylor's thesis that it is not enough to agree on the standard of living if there is still a disagreement about the source of moral.We tried to explain complexity of moral, its sources and functions. Regarding that, we elaborated in detail on Haidt and Craig’s new moral foundations theory in which authors tried to connect comprehension about morality in different social and evolutionist sciences and deny naturalist, empiricist and rational moral theories. This theory relates Darwin’s thesis on the development of moral sentiments on group level; Hume’s moral theory in which the reason serves emotions; Shweder’s cultural-anthropological theory about existence of individualistic and socio-centric cultures; Durkheim’s understanding of human as homo-duplex; and so on. All of this has enable Haidt to elaborate on the new moral theory in which morality is explained functionally and descriptively. It is about founding a moral science, which was advocated by Durkheim as well. It gives the foundations for different understanding of moral and political pluralism and for explaining the difference between liberal ideologies and orientations, and the republican ones, while trying to provide a new interpretation of social cohesion and differentiality inside the society and between societies (for example, between EU member states).
