Sažetak

The article follows the development and mutual relationship of the business scope and record keeping, as well as the registry (Registratur) of the Department of Religion and Education of the Land Government for the Kingdom of Croatia and Slavonia, particularly during the registry periods of 1892-1912 and 1914-1921. The scope is stable in general outline, but the management was gradually increasing in its magnitude, which was followed by the quantity of the created records. The structure of the registry wasn’t only influenced by the fact that management magnitude was increasing but also by the measures relating to management’s modernisation, as well as by synchronization of the file coding system with the distribution of work, while space limitations had the same effect on the multiple disposal that took place in the registry from 1902 to 1914 and probably even earlier. The registry (filing) plan (Registratur Plan) comprising of nine registry bundles (Faszikeln) in 1892 reached twenty one bundles in 1914. During the latter period the registry bundles were arrayed in three groups, according to main tasks of the department and are followed by the corresponding indexes (registers I-III). The preservation and disposal of the records of the Department of religion and education is also analysed. The lack of space meant drastic disposal was carried out, which made the records created before 1892 to be saved only in fragments. The problem with space linked with preservation of the records was dealt with during 1914-1917 after the refurbishment and expanding of the buildings i.e. spaces at Opatička and Kamenita streets. The records created after 1892 were disposed of more selectively, particularly those from the period 1907-1921.
