Archive Terminology in Theory and Practice

Abstract

In this paper, Croatian archive terminology is analysed. Croatian terminology used in the translation of Luciana Duranti's book „I documenti archivistici: le gestione dell'archivio da parte dell'ente produttore“ is analysed and compared to the archive terminology used in Croatian legal norms.
The following archive terms (in Croatian) and their variants, as well as the concepts that they refer to, are described in detail: archives, records, documents, current records, semi-current records, non-current records, active records, semiactive records, inactive records, general records centres, intermediate storage, item, file, dossier, class, classification scheme, filing plan, register, appraisal, valuation, selection, weeding, records schedule, transfer list, disposal list, inventory, archive group, archive fond, archive collection, record office, records management.
