Sažetak
Computerisation is one of the main pillars of efficient, innovative and better public administration, has a positive influence on the performance of the whole public sector. It is also a step towards the digital era. It facilitates redesign of bureaucratic administrative procedures into transparent, simple, and accessible ones. The computerisation of public administration enables consolidation of the basic principles of good governance (democratisation, coherence, efficiency, effectiveness, accountability, etc.). There are many other advantages of the computerised public administration. The governments are not such strong proponents of information technology (IT) usage as the private sector. Despite that, the computerisation of public administration seems to be exceeding expectations. Many countries have adopted strategic plans for the computerisation of public administration, and some of them are only at the beginning of that task. Computerisation of public administration is not a goal in itself. Rather, it should foster public administration reforms directed at improving services for citizens.
