The Archival Units and Their Description - Information Review

Sažetak
This article is composed as a contribution to discussion about description of archival units in the yearly meeting of archivists in Republic of Croatia. The idea of this article suppose that the content of description and its characteristics follows from precise explanation of it concept. Consequently, this article is divided in two parts. In the first part of this issue is dissuad about concept, and in the second about description of archive units.
The conclusion is that the information system is consisted of archive units - from the smallest act to the biggest fond or collection. A l l of these units are units of filing, but in function of retrieval. The filing are doing from the smallest to the biggest one, and retrieval in an opposite side, from the biggest to the smallest one. In the same time the units of filing are also the units of evidence, because its are confirmed in them. Therefore, its are units of filing and units of evidence. In this is their dual character.
In the information system every unit has it place. Therefore, its description includes limits of this plan.
