Sažetak

In this article the author works out in details the evaluation principles of current and non-current records and in this connection, the principles for disposal (destruction) of that material as well. The article is divided in two parts. The first, introductory part in general explain the relation of the archivist toward appraisal of current and non-current records and emphasizes the importance of realisation of that procedure. In the second part the author treats the legal side of these problems in the period before, as well after y. 1962, when the Law on Preservation of Archives and Repositories was passed. When quoting the rules from the period before the Law by which all aspects of preservation of archives were ensured through the history, especially in 19th century by passing "The Archival Law on the Land Archives" (1870), the author wants to emphasize that the care for records has been present in this space from the oldest times in one way or another. The second period, the one after the passing the Law in 1962, the author elaborated by accentuating the beginnings of indépendant development of the archival service in Croatia, in relation to rules which were applied in the rest territory of ex-Yugoslavia, until the still valid Law on Preservation of Archives and Repositories from 1978 and Draft of New Archival Law, which passing is in the course.
