Sažetak

According to the World Health Organisation's definition, three components of positive mental health were recognised; subjective wellbeing, productive and fruitful work, and the ability to make a contribution to the community. The instrument of Mental health continuum-short form measures positive mental health through 14 items grouped in three subscales; emotional wellbeing, social wellbeing, and psychological wellbeing. The aim of this research was to present the Croatian version of the Mental health continuum – short form (MHC-SF) and examine its psychometric properties and factor structure. Research was conducted on a sample of 327students from the J. J. Strossmayer University in Osijek. Analysis revealed very good psychometric properties of the Croatian version of MHC-SF. Confirmatory factor analysis confirmed the original three factor structure comprising sub-scales: emotional wellbeing, psychological wellbeing, and social wellbeing. The factor structure, pre-assumed from the original instrument, was confirmed in the Croatian version. A categorical diagnosis of the presence of mental health and the absence of mental health was applied to the sample data. The Croatian version of the MHC-SF is a valuable, valid, and short instrument to measure positive mental health.
